The New Hampshire International Seminar (NHIS) is a series of talks organized by the International Affairs Program at UNH to cultivate community-wide dialogue on critical global issues. To achieve this, the program brings leading scholars and practitioners to campus to speak not just to our students but also to the broader community.
The NHIS series is meant to engage an undergraduate audience and give some sense of why the presentation is important/useful to understanding some aspects of international affairs. UNH faculty, staff, students, and community members attend.
We are so excited to bring NHIS back to the Durham campus after a two year, pandemic imposed hiatus. Our first talk will be held on Tuesday, September 20th at 12:40pm in MUB Theater II and will feature Assistant Professor of Political Science, Madhavi Devasher as she presents her work on ethnic politics and issues of minority rights and representation.
Professor Madhavi Devasher is a political scientist specializing in ethnic politics, especially in South Asia. She has secondary interests in international relations, particularly conflict behavior. Her research examines the impact of ethnic and religious identity on elections in democratic societies by studying the political choices and representation of the large, vulnerable Muslim minority in India
This event is co-sponsored by the International Affairs Program and the Security Studies Minor in Political Science
