TITLE: CARBON AND NITROGEN DYNAMICS IN FLUVIAL SYSTEMS ACROSS
BIOMES
Join colleagues and friends for NRESS PhD candidate Bianca Rodriguez-Cardona’s
dissertation presentation. Bianca is
advised by Dr. William McDowell. All are
welcome. No RSVP necessary.
More about Bianca’s research:
Carbon and nitrogen are closely related in aquatic
ecosystems, but these relationships have mainly focused on temperate systems.
These dynamics have not been studied in depth in tropical and arctic systems.
By analyzing long-term trends
of dissolved organic carbon and dissolved organic nitrogen concentrations as
well as in-stream manipulations of nitrogen and carbon we can have a better
understanding of this coupling in streams across biomes and the ultimate fate
of these solutes.
