Fisheries in a Changing Climate
Kathy Mills
Research Scientist at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute
Dr. Katherine Mills has studied ecosystem change and fish-ecosystem relationships in the Gulf of Maine and Northeast U.S. Shelf regions for over a decade. Much of her research seeks to understand and inform management of fisheries as coupled social-ecological systems. Mills' research integrates physical, biological, social and economic information to link changes in the ecosystem and management system to societal outcomes. Her talk will make a case that the Northeast region offers globally-applicable insights and lessons, drawing in parallel examples and case studies from other regions of the world.
This talk is part of the New Hampshire International Seminar series co-sponsored by the International Affairs Program and the Global Education Center.
