What
is Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW)? MIAW is an
annual observance sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness to focus
attention on the high incidence of mental illness in America. The purpose of
the observance is to educate the public and reduce the stigma that surrounds
mental illness.
Please join students and faculty in the Social Work
Department’s 9th annual celebration honoring National Mental Illness
Awareness Week. This event was coordinated by social work graduate students enrolled
in the course, Human Behavior and the Social Environment III (HBSE III). We are
hosting a number of events that are free and open to the university community.
