Using Literacy for Children's Social and Emotional Development
Young children benefit from direct instruction in social development. This includes learning about friendship, following rules, and practicing safety. It also includes learning about feelings and emotions, dealing with difficult situations, and asking for help. This workshop will demonstrate how to use children's literature to frame lessons in social and emotional learning. Participants will learn to incorporate social and emotional learning into their own read-aloud activities in early childhood education settings. Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite children’s book related to feelings or emotions.
Is the event open to the general public (anyone can attend)?:Yes
