Detail
Guest Curator:
Astrida Schaeffer
September 14-December 14, 2012,
Opening reception Friday, Sept. 14, 5-7:00 PM. All welcome.
A sumptuous selection of twenty-five Victorian era
garments and accessories from the UNH Irma Bowen Textile Collection are on
display at the University of New Hampshire Museum in Dimond Library. The
exhibition and its accompanying book (published by the Branch Creative) explore
the aesthetics behind 19th c. clothing design and provide a detailed
examination of how their decorative elements were constructed. The result of
this project will inspire the contemporary needle worker, designer, garment
historian, and those who just love fashion.
