Dr. David Hajjar '77G, '78G, Dean, The Graduate School, Weill Medical College, Cornell University, will be giving a guest lecture titled: Role of inflammatory mediators involved in atherosclerosis.
Dr.
Hajjar is a distinguished UNH alumnus, having received his M.S. (1977) and
Ph.D. (1978) in Biochemistry working in the laboratory of Dr. Sam Smith
(Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry and Animal Science). He is currently the
Rhodes Distinguished Professor of Cardiovascular Biology and Biochemistry at
Cornell University. He has been on their faculty for 35 years, studying
inflammatory mediators in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. He has published
over 160 research papers, and has been the recipient of numerous awards from
FASEB, the American Heart Association, and the NIH. David also served as Dean
of the Graduate School at Cornell for 16 years, and as Executive Vice Provost
for 12 years at their medical college.
