ArtBreak: Slide Lecture
Janet Chen, Curatorial Research Associate in Art of the
Americas at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, discusses American
Impressionism in relation to the current exhibition, California Impressionism, Paintings from The Irvine Museum.
Janet has worked on several traveling exhibitions including John
Singer Sargent Watercolors and Painting Women. A graduate of Wellesley
College, where she majored in Art History and English, Janet received
her Master’s degree from the University of Glasgow, completing her
dissertation on J.M.W. Turner’s watercolors of Venice at night. She has
helped reinstall seven galleries in the American Wing at the Museum of
Fine Arts, Boston. She also teaches seminar courses at the Brookline
Education center and has authored essays and articles for The
Kelvingrove Review and a variety of other exhibition catalogues.
