Faculty from the Civil & Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments will host a seminar series titled, "The Science Behind Hockey" in DeMeritt 112 on Wednesday, November 14 in DeMeritt 112. Pizza will be available for attendees.

 The topics include" 

  • Statistically Speaking, when should you pull your Goalie (Jamie Bell)
  • Thermodynamics behind making a good sheet of ice (Prof. Martin Wosnik)
  • Ice as an engineering material (Prof. Eshan Dave)
  • Structural analysis of a hockey stick during a slapshot (Prof. Ray Cook)
  • Special Topic (Prof. Jean Benoit)
The seminar will be followed by free skating and the CEPS Hockey Game at the Whittemore Ice Arena.

Full schedule for the evening:

  • 5:30-6:45 pm - The Science Behind Hockey, DeMeritt 112.
  • 8:00-8:30 pm - Free Skate (need skates? Rentals available at the Hamel Center Front Desk)
  • 8:30-8:45 pm - Team Warm Up
  • 8:45-10:00 pm - Game (SIGN UP and full gear required to play)
